September 2009
Lori Giovannoni is an exuberant speaker and she didn't disappoint on September 8. Lori presented "Enhancing the Art of Possibility." We viewed the thoroughly entertaining video by Rosamund and Benjamin Zander, "Radiating Possibility" and Lori shared with us these simple rules that help us radiate our own possibility.
1. Sit in the Front Row - What does that mean? PARTICIPATE in your life. "Throw yourself in life like a pebble in a pond and see it ripple." How many times do we derail ourselves by not acting or by being afraid to fail.
2. How Fascinating - Ben Zander tells us when we make a mistake, we learn something. Instead of using this experience in a negative manner, let's use this experience to grow. "How fascinating that I've made a mistake, now I have learned something important."
3. Quiet your Voice - Change that little voice in your head that tells you "you know you can't do that. Better not take a chance, you will let yourself (and others) down." Don't let that negative voice discourage you. Go out there and do it. YES, you can!
4. Radiate Possibility - Become a part of the song. Don't be afraid to join in.
5. Invent a New Game - I AM a contribution. How will I contribute today?
Lori also enhanced Mr. Elliott's April presentation by reinforcing two concepts (rules) from "The Art of Possibility," the Downward Spiral and Everyone Gets an A. She encouraged each of us to look within and find the strength to radiate our own possibility. Whether this program enhanced your personal or your professional development, Lori's usual enthusiasm made the evening educational and entertaining.
